Open Finder with a keyboard shortcut on Mac
Hold Control+Tab (⌃TAB), press f, and Manico opens Finder. If Finder is not running Manico launches it from its bundle identifier, and if it is already running Manico activates it instead. One key covers both cases.
The key assigned to Finder can be any single key that types a character, and Manico stores it against the Finder bundle identifier. Reinstalling or moving the app does not lose the assignment.
The app you came from stays pinned at the top of the switcher and activates on its own after 2 seconds, so a quick look at Finder and a jump back is a single hotkey each way.
Manico does not hide, quit or minimise anything, does not switch browser tabs and shows no window thumbnails. Control+Tab then f opens Finder, puts it in front of you, and gets out of the way.
How it works in Manico
- Hold Control+Tab (⌃TAB) to bring up the switcher.
- Press f, the key assigned to Finder.
- Release. Finder comes to the front, launched from its bundle identifier when it was not running.
Manico stores the assignment against the Finder bundle identifier,
com.apple.finder.
